About the Club
Most of our roster
had never wrestled before
Woodstock City Wrestling was built for exactly that — kids showing up with zero experience, learning real technique, and finding out they're tougher than they thought. Here's how the program actually works.
Our Story
Why we do this
The Jr. Wolverines began as a feeder program for Woodstock High School wrestling. Since then, we have helped wrestlers grow on the mat, in the classroom, and beyond.
To create a stronger training environment, we have merged the Woodstock and Etowah feeder programs. After years of working together, this partnership is a natural next step, and we are proud to move forward as the
WOODSTOCK CITY WRESTLING Team!!
We teach the fundamentals of folkstyle wrestling — stance, motion, takedowns, control — to wrestlers who are brand new to the sport, and we keep building for wrestlers who've been on the mat for years. Every practice is designed to make kids stronger, more disciplined, and more confident, whether or not they ever step on a competition mat.

Inside a Practice
Work hard, play hard — minute by minute
0:00 — Warm Up
Movement & conditioning

Fundamentals, taught from scratch
Stance, motion, and a small number of core moves, drilled until they're second nature — no assumed experience.
0:45 — Live Drilling
Putting it into action
Controlled, coached live wrestling so technique gets tested against a real opponent, at a level matched to each wrestler.
1:15 — Games
We play hard
Practice closes with games built around the skills of the day — the fun part that keeps kids asking when the next practice is.
